DNR Winter Outdoors Skills Program for Women in Minnesota

DNR Women Winter Outdoor Skills Weekend

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) announced that they will hold a special workshop to help women learn winter outdoor skills. The workshop will cover the aspects and fun of cross country skiing, snowshoeing, wild ricing, birding, dark-house fishing and hiking. The workshop is called "Becoming an Outdoors Woman".

The coordinator for the program, Linda Bylander, said it is a special chance for women to experiment with various winter activities in Minnesota. She said previous experience will not qualify anyone or be required of anyone for the workshop. She said it's all about enjoying being outside even during the winter. She also said the atmosphere is supportive for attendees.

It will be held February 19-21, a weekend, at the Deep Portage Environmental Learning Center. It is located near the community of Hackensack and is intended for guests 14 years old and older.
